Hebrews 13:17

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account.

Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

MY TWO CENTS: Be nice to your pastor and church leaders! Paul says in 1st Corinthians 11 to “imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ”. If you honestly look at the spiritual leaders in your life and have to concede that they are in fact imitating Christ as best they can, then also admit that maybe your contentions are based on non-essential things and/or carnal things. Stop contending with them, be a source of joy and not grief! Give that leader a call or pay a visit. Repent. Let them know you love and appreciate them. As today’s verse says, its for your own good!

Amen, my dear brother. Sad thing is, we are also told to test what we see & hear and be on guard for false teaching and too many “saints in the pews” fail to do this and end up imitating church leaders who are NOT imitating Christ nor following His Word.

The Christian life is one of responsibility - walk in obedience to Christ so we do not give cause for a weaker brother to stumble.

I just sent a word of encouragement/thanks to our pastor and he replied that it made his day. I am so glad that Pastor George suggested we do that. Thanks!
