Isaiah 31:1

Monday, February 4th, 2008

And rely on horses,

Who trust in chariots because they are many,

And in horsemen because they are very strong,

But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,

Nor seek the LORD!

I always like to point out with this verse that our encouragement comes from doing the exact opposite of each line. And what are these things in terms of our lives?

Egypt is typically a representation of the world’s powers, systems and ways…

Horses, chariots and horsemen can represent natural or worldly strength or any earthly means of accomplishment, even military might.

Nations as well as individuals rely on such everday but there are limitations. In contrast believers should know that seeking the Lord brings on a help thats limitless!
