Previously I have used James 1 verses 19 AND 20 for VOTD, but today just verse 20 jumped out at me. I not only felt this applicable to a couple I am helping through marital difficulties, but the Lord also pointed out a personal situation of mine where this applies today. I pray that it will minister to a few VOTD family as well!

These verses help me encourage, gently but sternly assist Christians who desire to kick their obedience up a notch! Thank you!
Each one of us has a calling – an upward call of Christ.
After being faithful in obedience to Him over time, we can look back and see where we land in that hope.
We truly want to be a “prisoner of hope”!
To help a helper or assist a Christian, myself I have seen the following:
My current calling…
The ministry of conciliation and reparation
or “Bringing a Christian back and making them betterâ€
Within the encouragement to the Christian, I tell them:
Seek Him to find your calling in the Lord.. this will help you understand “what in the world you are here for!”
as your obedience will lead you to the “Prize” – ruling and reigning with Christ!

Ken,
You inspired today’s verse!
BTW, is your name really “Melchisedeck”?? Like “Melchizedek” of Gen 14 and Hebrews 7 fame! Very cool…

Yes..
King of righteousness!
Years ago, not walking the walk, the Holy Spirit took me aside (actually to the floor) and showed me some things.. finding our name back to 16 century where our family researched Mathias (who loved high priest Melchisedeck with ch, k, or z, etc.) and my family took the known spelling as our last name. Now, with knowledge and not wanting to perish, I must yield to Him and be the righteousness of God in Him!
My wife Christel and I oversee hundreds of kids in children’s ministry at ONE* (onespokane.com) in the Spokane Valley.
