Luke 6:27-31

Jesus said:

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.

Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.

And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise…”

  1. Linda Williams Says:

When my son was little, I was teaching him about the “golden rule,” and he, being about 4 was less excited about it than I was. We were riding a bus somewhere and without being asked, he jumped up and offered his seat to an older person.

I was so pleased, I started telling him, “You did it! That is what the golden rule is all about! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!” With inexplicable 4 year old thinking he said, “I think I’d rather have a deep blue rule…’Do unto others as you would like to do unto them’” I thought…well, I guess most of us without the inner light of love would prefer a deep blue rule. Although, some one said to me when I told the story, “Sounds like it could easily turn into a black and blue rule!”

I’m glad that his walk is better than his talk.-

Great story Linda! I may steal this for a sermon illustration sometime!
