Ephesians 4:31-32

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

To be like Jesus can be elusive at times; thank God that he reminds us to look upwards to our forgiveness in Christ, there and only there can I gather the strength I need to love others, in fact it’s not strength in the way that one has sufficient force to overcome, it’s rather a changed heart that comes from looking at things or situations with a proper perspective. It renders me capable to love the offender as Christ has loves the offender I was and am.
Looking upwards to my savior, I realize that I am loved by him; responding with love for others becomes the natural thing to do, even when they don’t seem to deserve to be loved.

Thanks for this VOTD, reflecting on today’s text was very helpful.

As always, God’s word is so timely! My kids all learned Eph 4:32 as their “Kindergarten verse” (of course the younger ones learned it earlier because we learned it together the first time thru w/ the older siblings).

This is timely b/c I have one at home today after a morning “meltdown”. I can point a finger at him for the fits of anger, acting way younger than his age, etc, etc, but I believe verse 31 is all the more for me, too! God wants me to put away anger, bitterness, wrath, evil speaking… finger pointing, lack of patience, resentment, making my own “plans” and not listening to His still small voice, ETC :-)

Just a reminder for me to consider the whole of God’s Word and what treasures may lie just above or below where we are focused.

Enjoy God’s Living Word… in its entirety! :-) THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING. It’s a highlight of my day to see votd in my inbox.
