Tim,

As my kids say "I'm feeling ya"! I too have a great concern for reverencing the Lord, however my perspective is that the medium isnt important though the words are...

Jesus says in John 6 "...The words that I speak to you are spirit..." I'm of the opinion that Spirit - especially the "Holy" one cannot be destroyed by way of any earthly methods - therefore deleting type on a computer, crumbling, throwing away or erasing a piece of paper, painting over, crossing out - or any other similar act cannot diminish God.

Such an action CAN be a willful act of defiance, but isnt always. The heart and mind of the person would be the factor.

My point is that when we read the Word of God, His Spirit is imparted - as if the actual words are candy wrappers but the Spirit is the candy! Should the concern be over the discarding of the wrapper or the candy?

I personally dont feel any conviction when deleting an email but I'm always concerned for the individual that reads the email but then deletes the Name of God or the Word of God in their heart...

This isnt to change you as much as it is to give my response - please know that I respect your view and your expressing in the Lord is always welcomed and encouraged here!

I humbly offer this suggestion regarding the conveyance and deleting of references to the Almighty:

As it should be our desire to sanctify the L-rd and His name, I would suggest that in the future, all references to G-d would be as I have typed them above. In this way, all who read would understand who is being referenced, and the end result would be that, when the email is deleted or the printed copy is thrown in the trash, the Name or reference is not thrown in the trash. Essentially, we are eliminating the name of the Holy One from being blotted out!

This will not gain us any more favor with G-d than the favor we have been freely given through the Messiah's death and resurrection. However, we as a holy people can strive in a variety of areas to please G-d with our thoughts, words and actions.

Thanks for your wonderful work in disseminating the Word and for giving me space to express myself in the L-rd. Peace be upon us and upon all the Israel of G-d! Amen!
